Executive Board

Your Executive Board works tirelessly to provide you with great experiences! If you have questions or suggestions for any of us, feel free to reach out by visiting our office hours, talking to us at programs, or sending an email addressed to the specific board member you would like to talk to at rha@unm.edu.
The Executive Board is elected yearly (usually in mid-April) and their duties depend on the position. You can find detailed descriptions of each position below. Members of the Executive Board all have office hours where we will be in our office on the second floor of LaPosada Dining Hall. To request a meeting with an Executive Board member in person or virtually during their office hours, you can email rha@unm.edu. Please address the email subject with the name of the member you want to meet with and include which office hours you'd like to meet for.

About Me: 
Positional Duties: I oversee the RHA's operations, including managing the executive board, planning events, and allocating budgets. I also act as a bridge between residents and university administration, addressing student concerns and working to improve campus life. Lastly, I coordinate with other student groups, promote community engagement, and develop leadership skills among RHA members. The Executive Director also serves as one of UNM's official representatives in regional and national spaces.

About Me: Hello! My name is Seeun Choi, and I am your RHA Director of Communications. I am originally from Seoul, South Korea, and I moved to New Mexico during high school to pursue better educational and cultural opportunities. I am currently majoring in Pre-Nursing and Economics, with a minor in Interdisciplinary Arts.

On campus, I stay actively involved in both leadership and academic communities. I am a member of the Honors College and serve as the treasurer of an economics club. I first became involved in RHA as the president of the SRC Community Association. Additionally, I participate in a Native health research fellowship and have a strong interest in health economics. Outside of academics, I enjoy weightlifting and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds.

Positional Duties:

The Director of Communications leads correspondence and organizational efforts for RHA. This role is responsible for sending out emails to members and maintaining the RHA website. Additionally, I design and manage website content, run the RHA Instagram account, and respond to inquiries through the RHA email. I also record and maintain minutes for both General Board and Executive Board meetings to ensure clear communication and accountability. Furthermore, I assist in promoting events across the organization to increase engagement and participation.

National Communications Coordinator  (NCC)

About Me: My name is emery madden, and i use she/her/hers pronouns. I am a second year student majoring in Psychology with a minor in film history and criticism. I am from the South, and I love to make art and be involved in my community. I serve as the National Communications Coordinator in RHA, representing UNM at the regional level (IACURH), while also serving as the parliamentarian in general meetings.
Positional Duties:
The National Communications Coordinator is the face of RHA beyond the UNM level. They are the team lead for regional and national conferences, chats, and discussions in which RHA is involved. The NCC serves as one of the official representatives of UNM in these spaces.

About Me: 
Hello! My name is Sarah Lopez-Barela (She/Her) and I am the RHA Director of Advocacy. I am born and raised here in ABQ and love being close to home! I am a freshman studying Biology (Pre-Med) with a minor in Chemistry. 
I’m thankful for the RHA for electing me as their DOA! I am a freshmen with not a lot of experience but I am passionate and excited to continue to grow and learn!
Positional Duties:
The Director of Advocacy oversees the success of the Diversity and Social Justice (DSJ) and Eco Committees. These committees plan one program per month, incorporating their respective lenses into an engaging experience for on-campus residents. The DoA also plans one advocacy or environmentally-centered initiative per semester to foster awareness at UNM.

About Me:
Hi everyone! My name is Isabelle Escontrias, and I am one of the Directors of Programming for our RHA. I use she/her pronouns. Born and raised in Houston, I moved to Albuquerque three years ago. Currently, I am majoring in Sociology (Pre-Law) and Intercultural Communications, with minors in Psychology and Philosophy, and plan to attend law school after graduation.
I am involved in several other organizations besides RHA such as being a part of Alpha Kappa Delta, the Sociology Honor Society. I have worked with several communities on campus to do collaborating events, one of which being the Honors College in which I am also getting my certificate in Honors Interdisciplinary in Liberal Arts. Outside of school and RHA, my time is often spent crafting and reading, with music serving as a favorite way to relax, along with hanging out with my friends.
